Meet my little Maizie.
Cute, huh? In the last year Maizie has had some serious skin issues/allergies. We had been to countless vets and tried many antibiotics and it all helped for a bit, but when we stopped the meds, the skin irritation came back. We switched to the best foods, even allergy/limited ingredient formulas and still had no luck. I was getting really frustrated, especially knowing what I know about holistic health.
A couple weeks ago, when her skin broke out, again, I became determined in finding a local holistic vet. We had been to one late last year, but we honestly didn't like him or the treatment we received. When I googled holistic pet care, Cincinnati, All About PetCare came up. I called them on a Saturday morning, when Maizie was scratching uncontrollably, and they squeezed her in their busy schedule.
This practice is absolutely wonderful. The whole experience is exactly what I've been looking for in a vet. The doc is extremely knowledgeable about holistic pet care and, get this, even recommends Standard Process supplements, the same supplements that Luke and I take. The doc took some blood and we had an extensive allergy test done. He also gave us some herbal powder, which helped with scratching.
About 2 weeks later, we got the allergy test results. Maizie is allergic to lots of things, but especially allergic to eggs, soybeans, wheat, barley, oats, and yeast—pretty much everything that's in dog food. We were even on a prescription, limited-ingredient food, but come to find out it had soybean oil in it. So, we finally found a dog food that has none of these ingredients.
So, my local, healthy, holistic find for this week is All About PetCare. Just like people, our furry friends need a wholesome balanced diet of high-quality food and possibly nutritional supplements.
Have a great weekend!
